I planned Greece over a couple of months and the hardest part of the planning process was choosing a hotel. Since this was a solo trip, I wanted to ensure I was staying somewhere I felt safe but also central to the downtown area so I could easily get around. I ended up landing on Dream Island Hotel because of the cost, the proximity to the downtown area and the rave reviews on Trip Advisor.
This hotel is a more cost efficient way of staying in Santorini, primarily because it doesn’t have Caldera views. Quite frankly, the Caldera view is gorgeous but I didn’t feel like I was missing out by staying here. They sill had phenomenal views of the water and Caldera views are about a 5 minute walk across the street.
Like most hotels on the island, Dream Island Hotel is family-owned, very clean and the property is beautiful. The family goes out of their way to ensure you’re taken care of, including providing car service to and from the airport. I arrived on Santorini earlier than anticipated because of a last minute flight change and upon my very early arrival, the hotel owner made me an espresso and small plate of biscotti. They even rushed to get my room cleaned so I could relax after such a long couple of days traveling.
In terms of location, it’s about a 5 minute walk from downtown Fira, which is filled with dozens of restaurants, shops, and views of the Caldera. Fira is also the port for all of the buses so it makes it very easy to get around to other neighborhoods for exploring.
Another aspect I liked about this hotel is breakfast is included in the nightly cost. It’s buffet style and everything is fresh. They had quite the variety, which included both hot and cold items as well as espresso and coffee. I was never disappointed in the food and the staff was so sweet.
I’ll certainly be going back to Santorini and without question will stay here again!
